Kicking off our October update, We have some new additions to our cheese wrapping line up.

Ovtene wrap,

Building on the success of our 23 x 23cm plain white sheets, JKM Foods is adding to the available catalog 25 x 37cm 50 x 75cm plain white sheets. Both of these sizes are now available in packs of 1000 sheets.

Ovtene has become our wrapping medium of choice, for a wide range of cheese producers & sellers. Offering a market leading technology based upon the humble egg shell. Ovtene is a calcium carbonate based product, so it’s gas permeable while being moisture resistant. This feature is key in allowing the the cheese to expel co2, avoid drying out & extending its shelf life.

From just £0.0455p/sheet Ovtene is a cost effect, cheese wrapping solution with fantastic benefits literally built in.

Aluminum foil,

Listening to our customers, JKM Foods Ltd sought to source high quality foil for cheese wrapping. With that we have tirelessly engaged with various manufactures, and can now offer two colours options for our customers. First off there is gold in 50 x 50cm & finally there is silver in 47 x 47cm. Both of these size formats, are available in 500 sheet packs & double lined for food use. Foil has for a long time been the classic look, used for a wide range of blue cheese styles.

Something new.. Something Blue..

Secondly in this October update, we are focusing on interesting developments in blue mould from the UK labs of Myconeos.

With blue cheese makers faced with the ever changing palate of the UK consumer. The need for change and development, within the blue cheese market has never been greater. We have secured an impressive four! Yes four completely new single strain Penicillium Roqueforti. Offering producers a wider expanse of flavour profiles, thus allowing you the producer to better suit your customer base. These cultures are 100% UK developed, they also offer reduced bitterness in the final cheese.

Due to being produced from a single unique strain, it allows for greater control in growth, flavour & colour .

We currently offer:

  • Mild– offering a well rounded mild flavour with a slight hint of sweetness, producing a creamy texture in the final cheese.
  • Classic– robust medium flavour with a tang highlighting the sweet & nutty aromas, producing a creamy texture in the final cheese.
  • Artisan– an aromatic medium flavour bringing out the tangy & nutty aromas, producing a creamy texture in the final cheese
  • Intense– a strong yet balanced flavour highlighting the salty notes, producing a firm yet creamy texture in the final cheese.

We know it only October, but we need to discuss the elephant in the room (be in in a festive hat or not). This year JKM Foods Ltd’s festive shut down dates & last dispatch will be:

Closure:

  • The Office will be closed from Saturday December 21st till Wednesday January 1st.
  • Our office will reopen on Thursday January 2nd.

Dispatch:

  • Mainland UK inc. lower Scotland & Wales is Wednesday December 18th.
  • Central Scotland & Highlands, Northern & Southern Ireland plus islands is Tuesday December 17th.
